wolverine and the x-men is the latest incarnation of
marvel comics' amazing
x-men universe. it is an animated series, created to pick up the slack after its successful predecessor,
x-men: evolution, ended a 4-season run. this new show isn't a continuation of evolution, though. instead it's a whole new concept for x-men, drawing character development and storylines from many of the x-men comic franchises, such as
uncanny x-men, the
ultimate x-men universe, etc.
the story of watxm begins on a normal day at the xavier institute.
logan, (aka
wolverine), is leaving for a little while, as is his custom. he says goodbye to the rest of the x-men, but when he's about to go talk to
professor xavier, something starts happening to the psychic.
jean grey, also a psychic, is affected as well. and before everyone can do anything, there is a huge explosion, apparently centered on the professor. both xavier and jean disappear, and are presumed dead.
after the tragedy, the x-men disband, each going their own ways. after a year, though, logan starts to realize that they have to go back to action.
senator kelly is pushing for global mutant registration and his tactics are growing harsher, even putting non-mutant civillians at risk. many mutants have fled to
genosha, a mutant-haven governed by
erik magnus lensherr (aka
magneto). at the same time, the
brotherhood of mutants, a group of mutant terrorists, have begun wreaking havoc, something that is not helping the cause at all. seeing all of this, logan comes to the conclusion that the only ones who can stop the chaos are the x-men, and decides to step up as a leader to get the group we all know and love back together.
the show follows this premise as the x-men fight both mutant and not-mutant in their goal to reach xavier's dream of human and mutant peaceful co-existance, all the while trying to find any clue that can guide them to the whereabouts of both the professor, and jean. but all sorts of dark things are in their way, and if they don't sidestep them, they're in for a very dark future...
a
fanlisting is, as described by its creator,
janine, as a
"a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject." in this case, it's a list of fans of the marvel animated series,
wolverine and the x-men.
