about;

digimon, which stands for digital monsters, is a media franchise that started way back in 1997, when bandai released a digital pet toy that boys could raise and even make fight with other similar digital monsters-- basically, a version of the tamagotchi just for boys. these digital monsters got so popular that they branched out into other media, like video games, trading cards and, in 1999, an anime series. digimon adventure, as the show was called, was the story of eight kids (taichi, sora, yamato, jyou, mimi, koushiro, takeru and hikari) who were summoned to the digital world one summer. each of them gained a baby digimon partner, that could digivolve (that is, grow into a more powerful digimon) if needed, and eventually these "digidestined" kids save the digital world from great danger, while learning important lessons themselves. the show was a big hit worldwide, and was followed by one direct sequel titled digimon adventure 02, and later on several non-related series with a similar overall theme, but different characters and digimon.

ishida yamato (known as matt in many of the dubbed versions) is one of the original digidestined kids. his digimon partner is gabumon (baby: tsunomon, adult: garurumon, etc). he was always a lone wolf and kept away from his brother takeru and the rest of the kids. a few yeras before the start of the show, his parents divorced; takeru was sent to live with his mother, while he stayed living with his father. stemming from this, he has deep anger and trust issues, which he often unloads on the rest of the kids. eventually, though, through his adventures in the digital world, he learns to care for them and trust them. it turns out he is the bearer of the crest of friendship, which is the characteristic that represents him best. out of all eight of the digidestined kids, he is the one with the most character growth in the first season.

in DA02 yamato becomes the lead singer of a band called the teenage wolves, which becomes very popular and as such, he gets stalked by fangirls wherever he goes, such as daisuke's older sister, jun. but he still has time to give advice and help the new digidestined whenever they need him, as well as to back them up during the digimon world tour and the final battle against myotismon. in the epilogue to the series, we see a glimpse of matt's adult life: he has become an astronaut, and he and gabumon are the first man and digimon to land on mars.

takenouchi sora is another one of the original digidestined kids. she is a bit of a tomboy but she's a very sweet, friendly girl, who cares for everybody and always tries to help as much as she can-- she was a bit of a "mother" to the rest of the kids during the first season. her digimon partner is piyomon (baby: yokomon, adult: birdramon, etc). however, she also has her insecurities: her father is often absent and her mother is very strict with her. all this leads her to believe that she isn't capable of love, because she hasn't felt it. it turns out later on that not only does she love strongly, but she is the bearer of the crest of love. with the help and care of her friends she learns that she isn't defective in this sense, and that her mother loves her very much despite the fact that she is strict.

in the second season, sora is still very much the same sweet girl. she's taken up tennis instead of soccer, and also helps her mother with her flower arrangements store. she's still around to help the new digidestined kids whenever they need her. in the epilogue to the series, we see that as an adult, sora became a successful fashion designer.

yamato and sora interacted from very early on in the series. in season 01, they were the "mature" ones out of the group, and they often agree on things. sora often acted as the mediator in yamato's arguments with taichi. both coming from mostly broken homes, they understand each other on a deep level, and sora was the first to let him go when he wanted to go and find himself. when the kids briefly went back to the real world, sora and matt wound up together with takeru and they saved each other multiple times. later on, yamato, along with jyou, saved sora from the cave of darkness. they formed a strong friendship based on mutual understanding.

in adventure 02, they don't share as much airtime, but it's clear that they're still good friends. in the second half of the season, hints start appearing that maybe there's something else there. during the christmas episode, sora bakes handmade cookies for him, a sign that she likes him. taichi himself convinces her to give them to yamato, when she has doubts. that same night, the place where they are gets attacked, and yamato risks his life to save her, which even stops jun from pursuing him anymore. after that, they're shown with yamato's arm around sora's shoulder more than once, which makes it pretty obvious that they're dating; it's even mentioned in the fourth movie. in the epilogue to the series, we can see that yamato has a child who looks like sora and is holding a tsunomon, while sora has a child who looks like yamato and is holding a yokomon. there was much speculation for a while because the status of their relationship at that point was never actually stated, but the creators confirmed later on that the two are indeed married.

a fanlisting is, as described by its creator, janine, as a "a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject." in this case, it's a list of fans of the relationship between yamato and sora.
